The Heart Guy S3-4
If you love a wholesome country tale full of twists and turns, Aussie medical drama The Heart Guy (Down Under it’s known as Doctor Doctor) is the show for you.
Quick catch-up: Dr Hugh Knight’s glittering surgical career in the city ended when he was banished by the medical council to work in his country hometown as punishment for a series of white lies that spiralled out of control. Demoted to a simple GP in an underfunded hospital, he has to deal with falling into old patterns with his parents and jealous brother, his ex-girlfriend, and assorted oddballs from around town.
We take up the story in Season 3, when Dr Hugh has found solace in his new world and reason to continue as a medical professional. He still has plenty to learn though, and he’s taught a lesson by an intern he must mentor. She’s basically a younger him: bullish, headstrong, defiant, short and rude. And that’s where the fun really starts. There’s also the drama that comes with inheriting his family’s debt and becoming a father…
“Sure, Hugh may have his flaws (his many, many flaws), but he’s also the ultimate loveable rogue. And just when you think you’re going to really get mad at him, he reminds us: ‘I’m only good at one thing. Saving lives’,” reviews drama.uktv.co.uk.
