The Real Housewives of Durban: Mabusi’s not holding back in Season 2
Whenever Mabusi’s name is mentioned, you can’t help but smile and have a sense of pride, especially when witnessing how far she’s come on this show. Mabusi’s journey on The Real Housewives of Durban hasn’t been an easy one, but through all the misunderstandings she’s had with the other women on the show, she’s managed to rise above the drama and win the favour of many viewers.
So when we learned that she was returning for Season two of The Real Housewives of Durban, we could not contain our excitement. The underdog is back, and this time around she’s coming for everything!
We caught up with Mabusi recently as she shared her experience of being on one of the sassiest, most fabulous and most dramatic reality shows in Showmax history.
Are you taken by surprise at the love and positive feedback viewers have for you?
I am very surprised, especially at how relatable they think I am. I think when you’re an underdog, people find it easier to empathise with you. Everyone at some point in their lives has felt like an outsider in a group setting and that made viewers gravitate towards me more. I appreciate all the love I’ve received from the public and continue to embrace it every time.
You and Nonku didn’t have the best of times in Season 1. How are things between you two?
Things between Nonku and me are much better than in the first season. But I wouldn’t say we are friends; we’re just cordial with each other at the moment. She’s not someone I’d run to or seek advice from as a friend, and vice versa.
What are you hoping to achieve by returning for a second season?
Growth! This season is about me growing and standing my ground as an individual. I also want to expand my business. There have been various opportunities that have been presented to me since my debut and so I want to broaden my horizons and see what else can Mabusi achieve by being on The Real Housewives of Durban S2. I’m doing me this time around.
Was there ever a moment you regretted being a part of such a show?
Never. Unfavourable things may have happened in Season 1 but I’ve never regretted it. The idea of being on TV was a foreign concept to me but look where I’m at now! I strongly believe that this was God’s plan and I learned to grab the opportunity with both hands and run.

You’ve now developed a friendship with LaConco. How’s that going for the both of you?
LaConco and I clicked from the first season and what I’ve come to love about LaConco is that she’s a people’s person and is genuinely friendly. It all just depends on how you also approach her, but overall I love and respect LaConco.
She’s the easiest person to get along with and she’s the only one who accepted me for who I am. LaConco is not interested in who I’m associated with or what I have – she sees me as a person which I appreciate so much. She also appreciates that I’m also not into her personal business as well; we both respect each other’s boundaries which makes this newfound friendship work.
