The River: Andile’s explosive testimony
Before we give you a recap of last week’s instalment of The River, can we just give props to the production team? They’re always pulling out all the stops and are consistently bringing viewers some of the best actors in the country. You won’t believe how excited we were after finding out that South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA)-winning actors, Masasa Mbangeni and Robert Whitehead would be part of the much-awaited trial on the show.
Okay, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s give you a roundup.
No luck for Lindiwe and Zolani
From what we’ve seen so far, it doesn’t look like luck is on Lindiwe and Zolani’s side. Just when they thought they’d have a smooth court case, things quickly turned against them after it was revealed that Thato Mokoena’s body would be exhumed. Of course, this means that it will be revealed that the father of three was murdered.
Once Thato Mokoena's body is exhumed it could mean the end for Lindiwe and Zolani.#TheRiver1Magic pic.twitter.com/zO0SAhYxXQ

As if that’s not enough, on the first day of the trial, Andile took the stand and gave some interesting facts about the diamond that got Thato killed. When asked about his thoughts on the diamond, Andile revealed that he doesn’t think that the diamond was found at the mine. “You can only find such a diamond at the river,” he told the court. This, of course, is not good for Lindiwe and Zolani as it exposes their lies.
Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana’s long-awaited trial is FINALLY upon us! On the prosecution is Advocate Akhona Mayisela whose reputation precedes her. On the defense, Advocate Sandra Stein, who needs no introduction.

We don’t know if it’s too much confidence or arrogance, but Lindiwe’s attitude, especially where the trial is concerned, is very surprising. She’s pretty chilled for someone who is accused of murder, and somehow believes that her money will buy her freedom. As you might have seen, she’s been looking forward to this court case and even asked a designer to put together a few outfits for her.
While Lindiwe has been chilled, Zolani has been panicking. His desperation led him to getting a traditional healer to come and “cleanse” him and his aunt (even though she was totally against the idea).
Lindiwe is annoyed by the ritual and struggles to keep the concoction down.#TheRiver1Magic

Angelina and Paulina at it again
We were all starting to believe that Paulina and Angelina would finally sort out their differences for the sake of peace. This, of course, comes after Paulina moved back to her husband’s home and decided to give her marriage another chance. She even convinced her husband to change his attitude towards Angelina and be nicer to her in order to get her on their side. For a while, it looked like the plan was working and there was peace in the house.
However, it turns out that Angelina still hates Paulina. She was caught red-handed badmouthing the newlywed on the phone with a friend. Paulina walked in on the conversation and she wasn’t impressed. The two ladies had a nasty exchange of words and out of anger, Paulina hit Angelina.

Things got worse after Dimpho walked in and Angelina acted as if she had fallen after Paulina hit her. We’re concerned that this will lead to even more marital problems for Paulina. Imagine staying with the woman who cheated with your husband. What a tricky living arrangement.
You obviously want to know how Lindiwe and Zolani’s case will unfold, and whether or not Pualina and Angelina will ever get along. There’s no need to fall behind – catch The River on Showmax. New episodes air 15 minutes after the DStv broadcast.
