The River: Tumi wins Lindiwe over… again
We had a feeling that the dramatic moment between Tumi and Lindiwe was a dream. While the moment seemed and felt real, Lindiwe was just having a nightmare. Can you blame her, though? She’s been having a hard time dealing with the fact that Tumi caused Mbali’s tragic accident.
You can imagine how tough it must be to find out that your only surviving daughter is responsible for your last-born child’s death. How do you move on from that? The mining mogul hasn’t been taking the news well and has had a lot of mixed emotions. At first, she was in denial about the whole thing and was taking her anger out on Zolani. And then she said she’d forgive Tumi. However, forgiveness proved to be a difficult task for Lindiwe.
Is death the answer?
She admitted to Zolani: “I want to forgive her, but I can’t. I gave birth to her under the harshest conditions… I don’t know what to do. It should be easy for me to forgive her for killing Mbali, but I can’t. What must I do now?”
Madlabantu, as she refers to herself, added: “The worst pain is that she knows that I know… Unfortunately, one of us has to die and it won’t be me.” We’ve seen Lindiwe going through a lot of things in her life and having no issues when it comes to dealing with whatever life throws her way. However, this time around she seems to have found herself in a sticky situation because she might be forced to kill one of her children.
The situation became trickier after Tumi realised that Lindiwe had discovered the truth about her secret, although she hasn’t confronted her about it. But it turns out, the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. Since learning that Lindiwe knows what she did to Mbali, Tumi – with Mabutho’s assistance – had to think of a quick way to plant a seed of doubt in Lindiwe’s mind.
Tumi changes the narrative
Her brother-in-law advised her to come up with a story that could potentially save her. “Change the narrative about how the pliers got to the mansion. You’re going to make Lindiwe believe that you came across those pliers after Mbali’s death,” he told Tumi.
It looks like the plan worked because Lindiwe is starting to believe that Tumi is innocent. Zolani is not convinced and is still trying to make her aunt see through her daughter. But Lindiwe doesn’t want to hear any of it. “Your problem is that you feel left out now that Tumi is with someone else and you’re jealous of our bond…”
This isn’t looking good because while Lindiwe’s bond with Tumi continues to grow, her relationship with Zolani is starting to suffer.
