The Theory of Everything (2014)
Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in this biopic that looks at his relationship with his wife, Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones). While searching for a thesis topic at the University of Cambridge, he learns he has the motor neuron disease that would leave him wheelchair-bound and ultimately, in 2018, end his life.
The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking. It was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning one (for Eddie), and additionally won two Golden Globes and three BAFTAs.
Cinema Siren said: “The Theory of Everything is an interesting story about a genius, but it will be the performances by the Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones that will stay with you.”
