Unmarried S2 kicks off with a shocking death
Your favourite TV besties are back! Last season, they showed us that although life can be challenging, there will always be those fun and unforgettable moments. This season, however, Unmarried starts with some rather sad news that we didn’t see coming: Brenda and Thembi discover that their best friend was brutally murdered by her man, Kenny.
The friends are now left with many questions that unfortunately cannot be answered. They feel that they could have done more to make sure that their friend was better taken care of.
“I keep thinking there was something I could have done to save her. Go to the cancelled lunches, even allow her to spend my birthday with me. Maybe things would be different,” Thembi tells Brenda. But it’s too late to have regrets because that will not bring their friend back.
After the shock of losing their friend, Brenda and Thembi were met with more unexpected news. During the reading of the will, it was mentioned that Lesego’s wish was for Brenda to look after her son. “Lesego has made a decision about who she wants to raise her son. Brenda Morris, Lesego wants you to be her son’s godmother. She wants you to raise her son as your own,” Brenda was told.
Welcome Claudia
While Lesego is gone, viewers have been introduced to a new character. Claudia, who was friends with Lesego for 10 years, makes an appearance on the show for the first time. She is played by Lunathi Mampofu, who also played the character of Emma on The River.
Claudia had a lot to get off her chest about her dear friend.
“Lesego wrote me an email I think about two weeks ago,” she told Brenda and Thembi. “She was asking about our friendship and what happened to it. I just didn’t have the guts to answer her at the time. Ten years of friendship and I didn’t get the chance to reconnect.”
Lunathi’s debut on the show was met with a positive response from viewers.
