Unmarried S2: Thembi is not meant for the dating game

Diving back into the dating pool after years of marriage can be quite a daunting process. You meet all kinds of characters that can sometimes make you lose hope in ever finding love again. Just ask Thembi, who’s found herself in a rather unpleasant situation after the demise of her marriage.

Although her heart still belongs to Bongani, he doesn’t seem to be ready to work things out. He’s made this very clear and Thembi is now left with no choice but to move on with her life. These days, meeting someone means putting yourself out there a bit. So, after much hesitation, Thembi finally allowed Claudia to create an online dating profile for her.

Thembi gets ready to date again

This can be a scary experience especially when there are children involved. It’s quite an adjustment to make and that’s why Thembi thought it would be necessary to have a chat with her two children about their current situation as a family. “I just wanted you to know that no matter what happens in this world, I love you. Your father and I, we love you,” she told them.

Now that the hard part was finally out of the way, her besties, Claudia and Brenda, came to her house to get her ready for her first date. Thembi had a few concerns about the possibility of starting a new relationship and was worried that things might not go well. And boy, was she right!

From awkward to forward

She met up with her date at a nice restaurant and things seemed awkward from the word go. Her discomfort was written all over her face and she couldn’t wait to get out of there. The guy, on the other hand, clearly couldn’t read the signs and had different ideas about how the evening would end. He complemented her on her looks and even made weird sexual innuendos. What a turn off!

You’d think he’d end it there but, no, he carried on. He even told Thembi about a hotel room around the corner from the restaurant. This man clearly pictured himself sleeping with Thembi on the first date. Did he even want to get to know her as a person? Evidently not.

However, Thembi doesn’t roll like that. “I’m not going anywhere with you. This is a first date,” she told him. She then made an excuse about needing the bathroom and walked out. The guy had the nerve to follow her outside and insisted on going to the hotel with her. Fortunately, Thembi is one strong woman and was able to stand her ground. She told him where to get off and was even prepared to fight him.
