Gen-Zs aka the soro soke generation are pre-teens to young adults who would be between the ages of 10 to 25 by the end of this year.

They are more racially and culturally aware than members of the older generations. Some studies describe them as diverse, pragmatic, politically progressive, digital natives. It sometimes means that they appear to come on too strong and can be highly misunderstood. 

However, no matter how a Gen-Zer decides to present themselves, one thing remains the same – most are entertainment junkies. Even then, they often prefer shows that preach the values they are most committed to believing in.

1. Euphoria

The show stars the classic American actress, Zendaya, and Hunter Schafer in a great coming-of-age story riddled with drug and substance abuse issues. Euphoria tells the story of young high school kids trying to navigate their way through life amidst peer pressure, drugs, and sex. 

HBO made this award-winning series with the perfect binge-watch cocktail that will get you drunk on its excellence and complexities. True Gen-Zs are also in love with this show because many of them grew up watching Zendaya on Disney’s ‘Shake It Up’ and many are intrigued by her growth. The fact that she plays a character so far from her real-life persona makes this series even more fascinating for most who have loved the actress for years.

2. The Flash

It’s no secret that Gen Zs like superhero movies and or shows, so it makes sense that they like this CW series. Flash is about a costumed superhero crime-fighter with the power to move at superhuman speeds. It follows a crime scene investigator who gains superhuman speed, which he uses to fight criminals, including others who have also gained superhuman abilities. It’s a fun watch that allows most to escape their current realities into the high-powered world of the Arrowverse.

3. Gossip Girl

The first run was a hit with millennials. Many of them followed Blair (Leighton Meester) and Serena (Blake Lively) faithfully. The girls championed the Alice band and scarves trends, and the fans followed. The show’s return has now brought the younger Gen-Zs into the crazy life of The Rich Kids of Constance and all the drama that accompanies it. Many young people relate with the struggles of creating new relationships, overcoming peer pressure, and getting to learn who they are.

4. Industry

This show follows a group of young graduates competing for a limited set of permanent positions at Pierpoint & Co, a prestigious investment bank in London. It’s pretty straightforward why many Gen-Zs think this is a great show and why they follow it so closely. Most of them are only just getting to build their careers, and the struggle each person in this show faces feels familiar and even a little bit comforting.

5. Hacks

This critically acclaimed, Primetime-Emmy-winning show is as hilarious as it’s brilliant. It centres around the professional relationship between a young (Gen Z) comedy writer and a legendary stand-up comedienne. The almost begrudging relationship between the two makes for an exciting watch. Still, it’s once again something most Gen-Zs can relate with. There’s this constant underlying need for most people in that age group to prove they are not too young to know certain things and take on specific responsibilities. And so, many enjoy this series solely because they understand just what Ava Daniels (played by Hannah Einbinder) is going through working for Deborah Vance (played by Jean Smart).  

6. Power Book II: Ghost

Power followed the dangerous club owner and kingpin, James St. Patrick, also known as Ghost. However, Power Book II closely follows the life of his 18-year-old son, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), from the moment the young man shot Ghost. The story is interesting, especially for young people, because most can relate to battling good and evil. Tariq has every young person’s self-discovery issues added to real adult problems, making his story unique and intriguing.
