Africa’s Home Run: The Gift Ngoepe Story
This documentary tracks the meteoric journey of Johannesburg-born Major League Baseball (MLB) player Gift Ngoepe, from the Randburg Mets Clubhouse where his mother worked to becoming the first African player in MLB as a shortstop and second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Toronto Blue Jays.
It’s produced and directed by the team behind Elders: Die Camino and Oorsee, Charlenè Brouwer and Niel van Deventer. Ngoepe himself was part of the writing team, so this one is fully authorised.
