AMVCA 2022: The Johnsons bags second big win, plus full list of winners
Once again, Nigeria’s favourite family show, The Johnsons, emerged winners of the AMVCA for Best Africa Magic Original Comedy Series.
The Africa Magic comedy series, whose 10th season just dropped on Showmax, beat other contenders like My Siblings and I and My Flatmates to win the highly coveted award.
In a statement made available to Showmax, series producer Preye Odibo expressed immense gratitude to The Johnsons cast and crew for working as a family, and especially the fans of the show who “make all the hard work worth it”.

“We call ourselves family on The Johnsons set because we have the unifying bond that runs so deep that you can’t differentiate both cast and crew and that bond is what reflects on screen for the world to see and makes the show what it is.”
Speaking on her role as series producer, Preye described the experience as a “rollercoaster ride that has been very fulfilling all the way and made me a better producer. I can only thank the team for believing in me to lead them.”
Meanwhile, The Rishantes, which is also available for streaming on Showmax, won the Best Africa Magic Original Drama Series award.
Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story emerged as the big winner of the night with Osas Ighodaro, Stan Nze, and Nollywood OG, Ramsey Nouah winning the Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Director respectively from the movie.
