Six-part historical drama Beecham House is from famed director Gurinder Chadha – she gave us cult hit movie Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and period drama film Viceroy’s House (2017, also on Showmax).
Beecham House was dubbed “Delhi’s Downton Abbey” and follows John Beecham (Tom Bateman), a former soldier and employee of the infamous East India Trading Company. He’s trying to establish new roots on the subcontinent right as the British Empire is beginning its withdrawal. But the more John tries to live an honest life, the more he realises that people are digging into his business and personal life.
