First Time Mom
First Time Mom follows Temi, a mid-level senior executive at a PR company struggling to adjust to motherhood. She was living her life to the fullest with her best girls, Tracy and Onna – partying till 4 AM on weekdays – and it happened: she met the dashing Wale, and an unplanned pregnancy followed. They get married, give birth and her life becomes different.
Motherhood, expectedly, is life-changing. Temi struggles to balance her new life with her former one. She can no longer do her night-outs with her babes. Her clothes don’t fit any longer. She’s unsure about returning to her beloved job. And there’s an overzealous mother-in-law (or, as she says, monster-in-law), who is making her life even more unbearable.
The series explores the struggles and joys of motherhood, friendship and marriage. It delves into motherhood and how it can affect a young career woman. Temi enjoys being a mom, but she feels unappreciated by Wale and work feels different. To make matters worse, she didn’t get a push present from Wale. If you’re wondering what that is, a push present is a gift a husband gives his wife for “pushing” — giving birth.
First Time Mom, which airs every Friday on Africa Magic, is based on the parenting blog of the same name by OAP and award-winning producer of Skinny Girl in Transit, Temilola Akinmuda. Jola Ayeye and Adefolake Otudeka wrote the script. The cast includes Eku Edewor, Oshuwa Tunde-Imayo, Olatunde Gbolahan, Omotunde Adebowale, Taje Prest and Oscar Okeke,
