Getroud Met Rugby S4
Can’t get home in time for your favourite sport soapie Getroud Met Rugby? Have no fear – Showmax is awarding extra time for fans who’re stuck in traffic, still at the office, not near a telly… Getroud is now streaming here at the same time as it airs on DStv, starting from 5 August.
Not sure what you’re missing? Season 4 has just kicked off with the central Bekker family moving out of the series and newcomers and existing storylines taking a more prominent role as the Stryders rugby players get to grips with their lives on the field.
For starters, there’s that long-time-considered-taboo locker room hook-up between two players. Thought you had to be a butch, overly macho heterosexual to play rugger? Think again! And where there’s smoke and flames, the catty pom-pom cheerleaders are sure to follow.
If you’re a fan of rugby, you’ll love the ins and outs that fans normally don’t get to see. Yes, there’s a little on-field action, but the soapie’s main theme is what goes on behind the scenes at a rugby club, from player contracts and adding to the squad, through to changing coaches, trying new tactics, those high-pressure tournaments and everything in-between.
But it’s not all rugby, all the time. Personal lives also come into play, like with single-to-mingle coach Schalk’s Coach Wants A Wife “reality” contest where he’s getting a helping hand finding a wife. There’s also the hangers-on, like loveable couple Fafa and Maryke, as well as villainess Kristien, who’re bringing those comedic and much-needed evil angles to storylines
Did you know that they have actual ex-pro players advising on storylines as well as those all-important on-field scenes? The actors are pretty convincing – you’d swear they were real rugby players.
If drama’s your name, Getroud Met Rugby is your game!
You can stream the original drama series here, and binge the whole soapie so far here.
