Ingane Yam
No family is perfect, but there is a way of fixing missteps from the past. Mzansi Magic reality series Ingane Yam is doing just that as presenter Lethabo LeJoy Mathatho (from The Real Housewives of Johannesburg) tries to help families come to terms with skeletons in the closet.
“You’ve got to remember that these wounds are raw, they’re still bleeding and there isn’t even a scar yet,” says the host, who also plays mediator, confidante, supporter, shoulder to cry on, therapist and so much more in the 25-minute episodes. She is helping parents introduce their offspring from previous relationships to their current spouses and children in the hopes of forming a united bond under one roof.
It’s a typical family-style reality show. You have tears, screaming and finger-pointing as the established unit are introduced to an “imposter” they’ve known about. But more often than not, answers are found, solutions are realised and the people in each episode are able to find some form of peace.
In the meantime, sit back, watch and enjoy the reality rollercoaster.
