Life With Kelly Khumalo Season 3 episode 5: Kelly and Wanda discuss their fall-out with Brenda
If you’ve been watching Life with Kelly Khumalo from Season 1, you’ll know that Kelly has always had her friends Wanda Baloyi and Brenda Mtambo by her side. Whether it was raining or there was sunshine, the besties kept showing up for each other and it looked like there was nothing that could separate them. But things seem to have taken a turn for the worse and Brenda is no longer part of the squad, as we see in Life With Kelly Khumalo Season 3 episode 5.

Friendships should be effortless
Their fall-out was brought up on the latest episode of the hit reality show when Kelly and Wanda had a conversation about friendship.
“My experience personally with friendships, I think it’s something that shouldn’t require a lot of effort. I think friendships should be effortless,” Wanda said, with Kelly adding: “The scale of friendships is dropping every time.”

Kelly explained how losing friends when you’re older is a tough thing. “We keep losing the same friends,” she told Wanda. “Thami, now it’s Brenda,” she told Wanda. “Today you have five friends, tomorrow I have one,” Wanda said.
The two friends also shared their concerns about the issue and wondered if they weren’t the problem. Wanda even shared that she even went back and “revaluated” the situation and broke it down step by step.
Outgrowing each other
Speaking about Brenda, Wanda said: “When a friendship doesn’t have that kind of maintenance they fizzle.”
Kelly is clearly not looking at this from one side and she’s also willing to acknowledge her contribution to what happened. For now, she’s not quite sure how things got to this place. “Maybe it’s growth, maybe it’s time,” she said.
This is not the first time that Kelly and Brenda have had a clash. Although we’re not sure what caused their fall-out this time, we do know that the two friends have, in the past, ghosted each other.

In Season 2, Kelly and Wanda discussed how Brenda didn’t show up for Thingo’s birthday, which was obviously a hurtful thing. “I wanted Brenda there. It meant a lot for me to have her there and when she wasn’t, I lost it,” Kelly said. Brenda then came over, and despite things being awkward in the beginning, they decided to iron out their issues.
Pulling a disappearing act
Kelly mentioned how Brenda never shows up for birthdays.
“And then I get mad and then I throw my toys,” the singer told Wanda and Brenda. “And then I’m calling her and then she’s not answering me ‘cause I can see that she’s mad. See, me, I’m a friend that when I see that you’re mad I’m gonna reach out,” Brenda responded, adding that she hates tension because it makes things awkward.

Brenda explained that when she disappeared, she didn’t reach out to anyone. “I wanted to deal with me alone, without anyone giving me advice, telling me this and that. So, most of the time when you say ‘come’ I’m sleeping at home.”
At the time, Wanda explained that although people do things differently, there’s a responsibility that comes with being in a relationship as friends. “I cannot just shut you out and not say anything… Yes, understand and respect that you’re going through something, and you might not want to talk about it at that moment, right. But say something.”
In Life With Kelly Khumalo Season 3 episode 5, Kelly also addresses the Senzo Meyiwa trial and opens up about how it has affected her. You can follow that conversation on Life with Kelly Khumalo Season 3 right here on Showmax. A new episode of the reality series drops every Tuesday.
