Living the Dream With Somizi Season 5 episode 5: Cape Town varbz and new resolutions
Living The Dream With Somizi Season 5 episode 5 sees Somizi and his loved ones enjoying the last days of their holiday in Cape Town. Between sightseeing, walks on the beach and partying at the Mother City’s fanciest nightclubs, Somizi leaves time to organise a New Year’s dinner party to remember…
The sky is blue, the sun is out, and the Idols SA judge is playing a game of tennis with his mates at a five-star hotel. The group is later joined by Troy – a tall, dark and handsome man, who also happens to be Somizi’s crush. During the game, Somizi flirts with 30-something Troy: “Would you date a 50-year-old?”, Somizi asks with a smile. Somizi adds that he is interested in tying the knot again because his first marriage was just a rehearsal.

Later in the day, Somizi organises a New Year’s Eve party and the theme is black and gold. The guests are dressed to the nines and Somizi presents them each with a gift to zhuzh up the look – a pair of shoes from his sneaker collection. After a challenging 2021, Somizi hopes for a drama-free 2022.
“I’m truly grateful,” says Somizi to his guests, before adding “I’m grateful for family, friends, life, good health, wealth and surviving [the storm]. Cheers,” says Somizi. They raise their glasses in the air and the fireworks go off.
As much as Somizi wants to close the door on his failed marriage, it follows him into the new year. The next morning, Somizi tells his friends that his ex-husband Mohale Motaung reached out to him at midnight, but he rejected the call. “I don’t want to know what his intentions are. I’ve blocked this person out of my life, and I don’t care [about him],” says Somizi.

As expected, Somizi’s friends are concerned, and they ask him what he would do if Mohale wanted to rekindle their relationship. But before the choreographer can answer, the episode ends. We’ll hear Somizi’s thoughts in episode 6.

It’s New Year’s Eve and media personality Somizi Mhlongo is on holiday with his family and friends in Cape Town. As Somizi points out, 2021 wasn’t an easy ride. He filed for divorce from Mohale Motaung, and soon after the split, Mohale made serious domestic abuse allegations, leading to Somizi being suspended from his radio show and his job as an Idols SA judge.
Somizi hopes to leave the drama in 2021 and he arranges a New Year’s Eve party at his villa, where he is joined by his daughter Bahumi and their relatives. “I pray that everything bad that has happened in 2021 stays there and we are opening up to 2022,” says Somizi.
Back in Johannesburg, Bahumi’s mother Palesa Madisakwane consults with a prophet about her career concerns and future. And she receives the clarity that she needs to start the new year.
