Nobody’s Fool (2018)
Tyler Perry made a wise move bringing Tiffany Haddish into this fun movie, and her comedic talents are on full display. There’s a lot of strong language in this one, unlike most of Tyler Perry’s other films, but that’s what you’d expect from Tiffany Haddish when she’s allowed to play it fast and loose as an ex-con. As Tanya, she arrives on her sister Danica’s doorstep, looking for help in getting her life back together. Danica (Tika Sumpter) is successful, reserved, and the opposite of Tanya in every way – but it turns out she’s actually the one who needs the most help.
But, as the New York Times says, it’s not only Tiffany Haddish who’s a joy to watch: “Chris Rock has a funny cameo in which he goes near-full Redd Foxx, while Mehcad Brooks enlivens the last quarter as a dream guy who turns out to be very much less than that. Whoopi Goldberg, as the sisters’ pot-growing mom, contributes some funny stoner humor.”
It’s also got Omari Hardwick as an adorable coffee shop owner who’s making heart-eyes at Danica. What more could you want in a movie?
