On the Basis of Sex (2018)
Long a voice of liberal ideals on the US Supreme Court, we could be accused of taking Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died on 18 September 2020 at the age of 87, for granted. But in the 1960s, when she trained as a lawyer, she struggled to be taken seriously. In her career, she not only faced obstacles, but smashed them down, paving the way for other women to reach the top of the legal profession.
This biopic, starring Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), charts the Notorious RBG’s years at Harvard and early years as a law professor. It also follows the landmark case that changed the law and her life forever.
