Whether or not you rate the third episode of the final season of Game of Thrones as the greatest 82 minutes of television ever made, it was inarguably the most brilliant of the entire series. These pictures from HBO of the battle between the living and the dead, when the Night King and his army arrived at Winterfell, capture a little of the camaraderie, the despair, the courage, the fire and the abject fear that our favourite characters experienced in the midst of the most intense battle we’ve ever seen play out on our screens.
