Reclaiming Amy (2021)
Showmax doccie Amy Winehouse & Me: Dionne’s Story tells the tragic story of a talented singer through the eyes of her goddaughter.
A box full of tissues is going to be handy when you tune into this intimate documentary of iconic singer Amy Winehouse and her spiral into a drug and booze-fuelled death in 2011, long before her time.
Dionne Bromfield, a singer-songwriter and Amy’s goddaughter, opens up about her relationship with Amy and how she inspired her own career in the music industry. “I can’t tell you just how therapeutic this journey has been for me. Finally, I can move forward into the next chapter of my career knowing that I have dealt with emotions that have been buried for years,” says Dionne.
Her hope for this documentary is to show Amy as more than just a person struggling with addiction and instead showcases the amazing person and godmother she was to Dionne before she joined the infamous 27 Club.
