Set in the fictional world of Middle-earth and based on the classic, bestselling novel by Bloemfontein-born JRR Tolkien, The Hobbit trilogy stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, the reluctant hobbit recruited to join a quest to recover the dwarves’ treasure from the dragon Smaug. The cast includes Ian McKellan as Gandalf the Grey, Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the dragon, and Andy Serkis as Golem.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012): Bilbo Baggins lived a peaceful life until the wizard Gandalf convinces him to join a quest to reclaim the Dwarven throne. Soon he is facing armies, monsters and even dragons.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013): The second in this adventure trilogy sees Bilbo and his fellow adventurers get closer to their goal, but not without orcs, giant spiders and worse standing in their way!
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014): Bilbo’s fantastic journey concludes, but not in a whimper. With a dragon to stop and an army attacking the adventurers, it’ll take a hobbit with a big heart to win!
