The River: Mbali’s tragic death leaves everyone in shock
We’ve seen many tragic moments on The River, but nothing compares to witnessing Mbali Dikana’s death. The youngest Dikana sadly passed away in a car crash after having a big fight with her mother, Lindiwe. Her death left everyone in an emotional state. Let’s take you through what exactly led to that fateful moment.
Everything begins and ends with Lindiwe, right? So, after realising that she didn’t manage to kill Lindani after shooting him, she wanted to finish him off in hospital. However, she was relieved to learn that Lindani had no memory about the shooting incident. This made Lindiwe very happy and she and Zolani started celebrating.
Lindiwe’s daughters discover the truth
However, just as they were talking about their victory, Tumi walked in and overheard everything. She confronted her mother and Lindiwe explained that Lindani was in the wrong. Unfortunately, that conversation was overheard by Mbali and she was livid.
Tumi walked out of the house and Mbali locked herself in her bedroom. Lindiwe ran after her and begged her to open. She eventually let her in and the businesswoman told her daughter that she didn’t mean to shoot Lindani. She justified her actions by mentioning that fact that Lindani had taken her diamonds. Mbali was in disbelief.
After explaining herself to Mbali, Lindiwe wanted to make things right with Tumi, again. She invited her over to the house and apologised for her actions. She even offered to help Tumi and Lindani with the recovery process.
Tumi plots revenge
Tumi obviously didn’t buy that story because after that conversation she went straight to Lindiwe’s garage where her new fancy car was parked. Her plan was to tamper with the brakes and she went ahead with it after overhearing Lindiwe on the phone. In the conversation, Lindiwe was boasting about how she would finish Tumi and her family if they cross her again.
This made Tumi angry and she was determined to get revenge. After Tumi left, Mzansi watched as Lindiwe and Mbali engaged in another heated and emotional exchange of words. Mbali, who was very disappointed, reminded Lindiwe about that time she and Zolani were chased out of the house and had no else supporting them. She was the only who stood by her side, despite all the bad things she had done to others.
Mbali dies
Mbali rushed out the house and drove off to Refilwe in Lindiwe’s car. Yes, the same car that Tumi tampered with! Mbali called Tumi to tell her about everything that had happened and that she was coming to see her in Refilwe. After realising that Mbali was driving Lindiwe’s car, Tumi begged her to get out the car, even instructing her to jump out. Lindiwe was supposed to be driving, not Mbali! Tumi had to listen helplessly as Mbali screamed when the car crashed.
News about the crash quickly spread in Refilwe and the accident scene was packed. The Dikanas were informed by the police about the crash and they all rushed to Refilwe, not knowing what to expect. When they got there they saw Mbali’s body next to the burning car. Lindiwe and Zweli lost it after seeing their child’s lifeless body being taken away – a parent’s worst nightmare. Meanwhile, Tumi had regret written all over her face as she stood and watched Zweli and Lindiwe crying for their child.
