The River: Tumi confesses to killing Mbali
The Dikana family is still trying to come to terms with losing their youngest child, Mbali. Lindiwe and Zweli’s daughter tragically lost her life in a car accident. Can we even call it an accident if someone tampered with the brakes? That’s the million-dollar question right now! While the Dikanas battle with the loss, Tumi is filled with regret and is close to losing her mind. Let’s fill you might have missed on The River last week.
Tumi comes clean
Tumi is blaming herself for her sister’s death because she’s the one who messed with the car. She didn’t realise that Mbali would drive instead of Lindiwe and she now has to live with the consequences of her actions for the rest of her life. It’s only been a few days since Mbali died and so far, Tumi hasn’t been in the best space mentally and emotionally. She’s been having nightmares about Mbali and even confessed to killing her.
Everyone is grieving right now, and no one believes that Tumi is to blame for her sister’s death. They probably think she’s saying all these things because she’s still in shock. However, the more they don’t believe her, the more paranoid she becomes. The newlywed then decided to tell her aunt the truth about what happened to Mbali. She told her aunt that she wanted to go to the police but Kedibone talked her out of it. It seems her only priority right now is protecting her niece.
The Dikanas are a mess
On the other side of town, the Dikanas are still trying to make sense of what happened. They’ve been sad since the news broke and nothing will ever be the same. Zolani, who’s visibly broken, has vowed to find whoever is responsible for Mbali’s death.
We wonder what would happen if he discovered that Tumi had played a part in this. It’s been sad watching this family going through the pain of losing a loved one. Lindiwe feels like she’s being punished for her wrongdoings – and she’s not far from the truth. The worst part is that her last conversation with Mbali was not a pleasant one and this will probably haunt her forever. At least she has Zweli to comfort her during this difficult time. Everyone is hurting and we don’t know how the Dikanas will get through this dark period.
