The River: Tumi’s secret comes out

Secrets always have a way of coming out, no matter how hard people try to hide them. Tumi just got this rude awakening after the truth about Mbali’s death was discovered by her brother-in-law. She certainly wasn’t ready for this to come out. How did this happen? Well, let us fill you in.

For weeks, Tumi has been living with the biggest regret of her life. When she tampered with the brakes of Lindiwe’s fancy new car, she didn’t know that Mbali would end up behind the wheel and lose her life as a result.

The only person who’s aware of what really caused Mbali’s death is her aunt, Kedibone, who’s vowed to never tell a soul. However, they made a big mistake when they discussed this private matter in a public space, and it landed on the wrong ears.

Is Tumi’s secret really safe with Mabutho?

Tumi and her aunt were chilling at the tavern and talking about Lindiwe and Zolani’s plans to find Mbali’s killer. Tumi said that she’s in a nightmare every single day and that Lindiwe will soon find the killer. While they were chatting, Lindani and Paulina’s cousin – who’s new in town – heard everything.

At first, he didn’t say a word about what he had heard and only came clean after overhearing Tumi’s prayer. The newlywed didn’t know that someone would be listening while she was confessing her sins at church. After her prayer, Mabutho, who was right behind her, promised that he wouldn’t say anything to anyone.

“Your secret is safe with me, including your little prayer,” he said. He also added that he saved her life. “I set the security company building on fire. If there’s anyone you should thank, it’s me, not father God,” he told Tumi. He also told her that he destroyed all the evidence before he burned the building. However, he made it clear that Tumi would have to thank him at a later stage. And he also sent the footage of her tampering with Lindiwe’s brakes. Tumi watched the video on her phone and she was visibly terrified.

Will Mabutho keep his promise, or will he make Tumi’s life miserable? Watch The River on Showmax to follow all the drama. New episodes air 15 minutes after the DStv broadcast.
