The Wayde Van Niekerk Story
Born to be a fighter and a winner, South African Olympic gold medallist Wayde van Niekerk shares his story of hope and determination in this latest documentary about his victory lap.
15 August 2016 will forever go down as one of the most historic moments in South African sports history, and it’s all thanks to Wayde.
The 400m sprinter broke Michael Johnson’s 17-year-old world record to win his first Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fast-forward to 2019 and Wayde is ready to share his story of victory with the rest of South Africa.
The documentary takes us right back to the beginning of Wayde’s life. Despite being born prematurely, he showed signs of extraordinary endurance from a young age, so it’s no surprise that Wayde is now considered one of the fastest men in the world.
Appearances by Wayde’s mother, Usain Bolt, Akani Simbine and his coach, Tannie Ans Botha, can be expected throughout the documentary as each individual shares their thoughts of Wayde’s work ethic and determination to win.
