Unmarried S3 episode 12: A serious case of déjà vu
Dear Unmarried enthusiasts: as this season draws to an end, we’re triggered and all up in our feelings. More than ever, we really want our on-screen besties to be happy.
If you didn’t catch this week’s episode, here’s all that went down in the Unmarried-verse.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Kamsi’s rendezvous
For Kamsi, it seems like when one woe ends, another begins.
As it turns out, Mofe and Kamsi have been doing a lot more than being “just friends”. Following the genital meet and greet in Mofe’s car that left Kamsi feeling guilty and ashamed, and consequently causing her to avoid him, he confronts her and pleads to see her again.
This time, they end up in his house, and unfortunately for them, Mofe’s girlfriend, Najite, unexpectedly turns up. Omo!
We must give it to Najite, though: a composed drama-free queen who shook hands with her man’s sidepiece. Epic!
Following the encounter, Kamsi runs off in embarrassment and gets a call from Lotanna on her way home. Lota asks to see her and they agree to meet up. We can’t be the only ones who have become weary of the back and forth between Kamsi and Lota.
On arrival at the house, Lota informs her that he has finally received a revelation that can turn his life around for good. He has decided to abandon catering and switch to agriculture. He asked Kamsi for a loan of two million naira and our jaws literally dropped.
Another day, another Kamsi/Lota episode.
Nengi’s tough choice
Nengi is once again caught between a rock and a hard place, faced with the difficult position of choosing between two men.
After her last argument with Bode over Bosa, Nengi is determined to remain friends with Bosa and continually declines all attempts of communication from him.
In a desperate bid to reach her, Bosa decides to visit her and talk things over. If there’s anything we love about Bosa, it’s his impeccable timing. The knight in shining armour constantly comes to the rescue of the damsel in distress. He meets Ali trying to rough up Nengi and immediately puts Ali in his place.
When they are finally alone, Bosa asks Nengi why she has been avoiding him. He confesses that he is in love with her and even though she wants to be just friends, he wants to be more.
She tries to remind him of her relationship with Bode, but Bosa pokes holes in her response. He informs her that he cannot continue to be just friends when he wants their relationship to be more. And, as such, he will have to keep his distance from her.
We really hope Nengi has not lost yet another love.
Funbi is trapped in a cycle of abuse
Like we said at the beginning of the recap, this episode was very triggering, mostly because of Funbi.
In the previous episode, Funbi discovered Ali’s two-timing and confronted him with her discovery. He denied all allegations and when he realised she wasn’t buying his lies, he proceeded to beat her black and blue.
Thankfully, she was able to get away and run to Nengi’s house for protection from the narcissistic Ali. Apparently, word on the street is that Ali is a chronic woman beater who knocked one of his exes into a coma. Talk about a crazy psycho!
When Ali discovers that Funbi did not sleep at home, he goes in search of her at Nengi’s house. Understandably, Nengi isn’t welcoming and asks him to leave.
Ali, in his typical fashion, starts to get aggressive when he isn’t getting his way and pushes Nengi out of the way to get to Funbi. Thank goodness for the timely arrival of Bosa, because heaven knows what Ali would have done to her.
Funbi finally agrees to talk with Ali, despite the disapproval of her friends. She expresses her hurt and pain and tells him in very clear terms that the relationship can no longer work. We were so proud but our pride was short-lived as the ever manipulative Ali suggested that they go to therapy together to work out their issues. Ha!
Funbi stands her ground and asks him to leave. Just when we thought it was good riddance to Ali’s madness, Funbi picks up her keys, gets in the car, drives home, and gets into bed to cuddle with Ali!
We can’t help but worry about Funbi’s wellbeing and honestly, our poor hearts can’t take much more of this.
Will Kamsi continue the affair with Mofe? Will Nengi rethink her decision? Will Funbi finally see the light?
