Unmarried S3: Kamsi gives Lota an ultimatum
In a surprising twist of events, episode 4 has left us too stunned to speak. I mean, who saw any of this coming? We certainly didn’t. Like we always say, wahala for who no dey watch Unmarried!
Let’s begin our recap with Kamsi. I know we said she needed to take her sister’s advice and get Lota to go for deliverance but we didn’t think it would be taken so literally.
Warning: spoilers ahead!
Lota’s retreat could risk his marriage
Following the last incident where Lota missed the date of a wedding he was paid to cater for, Kamsi laments to her sister Somto about Lota’s gross irresponsibility.
Somto, who has never liked Lota, insists that his problem is spiritual and advises Kamsi once again to take Lota for deliverance. Somto claims to know a powerful cleric that can help and surprisingly, Lota agrees to the plan.
Kamsi is livid! She believes that his lack of responsibility and accountability is the source of his problems and not some supposed curse placed on him by a disgruntled uncle. Lota, however, is convinced that he has found a solution to his problem and even turns down catering jobs because he is determined to attend a five-day spiritual cleansing retreat.
In a flailing attempt to provide a reality check, Kamsi gives Lota an ultimatum: attend this retreat and our marriage is over. Guess what? Our dear Lota, clearly unfazed, packed his bags and left for the retreat. Ha!
Nengi gets back with Bode
Just when we thought Nengi had walked Bode out of her life for good, she invites him right back. Nengi! Wetin dey occur? To be fair, it was a call made in a moment of loneliness.
Trust Bode the Yoruba demon to pick up her call on the first ring and show up on her doorstep in no time. They end up in Nengi’s bed and she tries to sneak him out early to avoid running into Tari. Tari watches her sneak him out and as soon as he’s out the door, she confronts her sister.
Tari is in a quagmire herself. After the most awkward exchange between her two men, Mayowa and Musa, she is left genuinely confused about what she wants. On one hand, Musa, who is supposed to be a Friend With Benefits (FWB), has caught feelings but she doesn’t feel the same way.
On the other hand, Mayowa, who she likes but has conveniently friend-zoned her, wants to be more than friends. Talk about a love triangle.
Funbi forgives her mother
In the wake of Iya Funbi’s return, Ali encourages Funbi to forgive her mother as it is the only way for them to move forward as a family. Still skeptical about her mum’s illness but willing to please Ali, she decides to hear her mother out.
Iya Funbi claims to have just one year left to live and is determined to make the best out of the time she has left. Hearing that her mother has less than a year to live, Funbi is moved to forgiveness. This obviously has Ali very pleased and he reminds her that he is in her life to help her make the decisions. We are not sure we agree with him on that one.
Funbi mentions to Ali that she needs someone to look after her mother whenever she’s out. She hints that Joe would have been the perfect person if he hadn’t been cut off. In another surprising twist, Ali permits her to reinstate him on the condition that he is less intrusive in their relationship.
Is this the end of Kamsi’s marriage? Will Nengi continue this relationship with Bode? Will it be a case of all’s well that ends well with Funbi and her mother? We can only wait and hope for the best.
