Your Jason Statham binge-watch playlist
The British actor has been credited with the popular resurgence of action movies in the 2000s – but before he was cast as Bacon in 1998’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which was his breakthrough role, he was a professional diver (selected to compete in the 1990 Commonwealth Games) and model. He caught Guy Ritchie’s eye and his interest when he found out about Statham’s real-life experience as a black-market salesman, and this partly what made him perfect for the role of Bacon.
And since then, if there’s been a British dark comedy heist movie made, Statham’s been on the bill. Stream these movies on Showmax whenever you need a gritty action-thriller fix.
