Living the Dream With Somizi Season 5 episode 2: Somizi finds closure
Living the Dream With Somizi Season 5 episode 2 sees media extraordinaire Somizi Mhlongo closing the chapter on his failed marriage with Mohale Motaung. The Idols SA judge is excited to turn over a new leaf, but drama follows him wherever he goes.
So, how does his day go from good to awful? It all starts when Somizi returns from filming a commercial and he takes his daughter Bahumi to the optometrist. Soon after, the choreographer realises that he is trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons. It’s revealed that there’s a man who claims that Somizi wanted sexual favours in exchange for an appearance at his event and the reality TV star refutes the allegations, before clearing his name.
However, that’s not the end of the chaos in Somizi’s day. He attends a fancy Christmas luncheon with friends, and at the party he engages in a conversation with his musician friend Vusi Nova about Somizi making headlines. While the men don’t mention any names, it’s clear that they are talking about former Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi, who publicly cancelled Somizi following the assault allegations made by Mohale.
As expected, Somizi is beyond disappointed in Unathi’s actions.
But Somizi is determined to turn his week around and he attends a book signing to promote his cookbook. In the queue, there’s an attractive fan who’s waiting to get his book signed. Somizi recalls meeting Mohale at a book signing and, just like the fan, Mohale was seventh in line. “This is the devil repeating himself. I will not [entertain the fan]. Somizi, focus and don’t ask for numbers or anything,” says Somizi.
To end the episode, Somizi meets with the jewellery designers who made his wedding ring, Ursula and Kealeboga Pule. During the emotional conversation, where Somizi sheds tears, he also takes a trip down memory lane, and reminisces about his wedding day. But Somizi doesn’t want to hold onto the past – instead, he wants to repurpose his wedding ring into something new. Somizi is ready for a fresh start and in episode 4, he will celebrate his 49th birthday.

Moving on isn’t always easy, especially when people are watching your every move. No one knows this like media personality Somizi Mhlongo, whose personal life always makes headlines in newspapers, tabloids and social media.
After his divorce and the assault allegations made by Mohale, people around the country had their opinions, especially those who were close to him. Somizi is shocked to learn that his colleague and then-Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi took to Instagram to cancel him.
Around the same time, Somizi was suspended from Idols SA, and he was keeping a low profile. But Somizi’s friends came together to support him during his darkest period. “Be careful of the people you let in,” Somizi’s close friend Vusi Nova advises.
While facing backlash on the socials, Somizi gets emotional as he reflects on his failed marriage.
