Nyanya Rukia S1-6
Set at the Kenyan coast, this comedy follows the titular Nyanya Rukia (Fahamu Kazungu) who is not your normal grandma. A farmer, a landlady, a businesswoman, an activist and a politician, Nyanya Rukia is energetic, loud and meddlesome; wherever she goes, trouble follows her. Brutally honest and sharp-tongued, she has no qualms about telling it like it is but the humour is not lost in her daily interactions and clashes with those around her.
At the Kalasha Awards 2019, Nyanya Rukia won Best TV Comedy and Best Performance in a TV Comedy for lead actor Fahamu Kazungu.
Acting as executive producer of this beloved Swahili comedy is Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and Kalasha Awards winner Daudi Anguka who also directs the award-winning Swahili telenovela, Pete.
Catch weekly episodes of Nyanya Rukia at the same time as they air on Maisha Magic East.
