The Real Housewives of Durban: The ladies drop gems about self-worth
While living large is part of their brand, there are other interests that keep this group of women busy.
Thanks to LaConco’s women empowerment lunch, viewers got to see a different and deeper side to their faves. LaConco invited her co-stars and a few young maidens to the event and they exchanged a lot of valuable information.

Women of virtue
When asked about the importance of walking away when something is no longer working for you, Nonku shared: “We need to understand that we’re women of worth, we’re women of virtue. So, your partner needs to understand that they need to treat you as the queen that you are.”
The businesswoman felt good about sharing her journey and lessons with the young women. “It felt good to tell those girls that I am Nonku today not because of anyone, or any man for that matter. I am what I am today because of God alone.”
Meanwhile, Ayanda spoke about the early stages of her relationship with her late husband.
Recognising your true worth
Ayanda explained how, although they had a child together, she decided to break up with Sfiso because she wanted more.
“One day I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror. I recognised my true worth. I needed something that would suit me, something that would be of value to me. I broke up with him for a whole year,” she said. This, we assume, is when Sfiso met Nonku and ended up having a child with her.
According to Ayanda, Sfiso came back the following year and told her: “’Now I know what I want. I want a wife; I’ve been messy with my actions and I’m ready to lead a good family’. We did, successfully, up until he passed away.”
Ayanda believes that a woman’s worth does not cease.
“There’s nothing as beautiful as a black woman that has empowered herself and knows who she is and is living her truth,” LaConco concluded.
