The River: Farewell Lindani …. for real this time
Lindani’s life came to an end after spending a few days in hospital, and Mabutho and Tumi will have to live with knowing that they’ve both killed a person. Will they keep each other’s secrets? Whatever happens, one thing is certain: Tumi is one confused person when it comes to her feelings.
We’re not sure if she was pushed by guilt or if she genuinely still has feelings for Lindani, but Tumi’s reaction after seeing her ex-husband in hospital was surprising. She suddenly remembered just how much she and Lindani had been through, and she seemed to care about him.
After being unconscious for a while, Lindani woke up confused and referred to Tumi as his wife. She played along because she didn’t want to further complicate things and hinder his recovery.
Farewell, Lindani
However, hiding the truth from Lindani didn’t stop the inevitable from happening. He had a terrible seizure, with blood coming out of his mouth. Things went from bad to worse and the family was told to prepare for the worst.
“He is no longer breathing on his own. He’s lost all motor function because the brain is no longer communicating with his body. I’m afraid you’ll have to prepare yourselves. You will have to take Lindani off life support soon,” the doctor told everyone.
Should Tumi blame herself for what happened to Lindani? Well, she does. “I’m evil. If I’d listened and gone to the police as he asked, he wouldn’t be fighting,” Tumi told her aunt, Kedibone.
It’s a little too late for Tumi to play the blame game right now because it won’t change Lindani’s situation. She realised this after some time and, without even speaking to his sister and his mother, Tumi made the call to take him off life support.
She had no choice because the doctor explained that there’s nothing else they could do for him.
“Unfortunately, due to the lack of oxygen most of his brain was damaged.” Sadly, that’s how Lindani’s journey came to an end.
We have a feeling that because his family wasn’t consulted before the call was made to switch off the machines, a lot of problems are on their way for Tumi and the Dlomo family.
