The River: Mbali and Faith kidnapped
The fact that we haven’t seen Lindiwe and Zolani on The River since Zweli kicked them out of the house doesn’t mean that there’s no more drama on the show. Yes, we miss them, but the past two weeks have been so entertaining that we’re starting to forget about them (almost). So, what’s creating all this entertainment? Well, we’re glad you asked.
Mbali and Faith are in danger
Mbali is obviously still heartbroken by the divorce. She’s also feeling rejected by her mother, who hasn’t been picking up her calls since she left the house. The youngest Dikana daughter feels like her mother has forgotten about her.
In her own words, she’s in the dark and doesn’t know anything. This just shows how far gone she is. Her current state of mind has also led to the demise of her relationship with her father. The past few episodes have revealed some cracks in their relationship, and we’ve even seen them fighting physically, with Mbali telling him that he’s busy entertaining prostitutes instead of fixing his broken family.

All this drama at home has led Mbali to the wrong friends and drugs because she’s so desperate to deal with her pain. Now, we all know that this never ends well, and it was only a matter of time before Mbali found herself in trouble.
As seen on Friday’s episode, she and Faith decided to go to their drug dealer’s place, which was a very bad decision. While he was busy getting their drugs ready, his girlfriend saw an opportunity to make more money from them because she had seen them on TV. She convinced her drug dealing boyfriend to not let them out of the apartment and just like that, they became hostages!

Cobra and Paulina at war
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, there’s a big war looming between Paulina and Cobra. We’re honestly getting tired of these two. This time, they’re not fighting because Cobra is cheating, it’s because they’re now battling to become the councillor of Refilwe. The former lovebirds are even hurting each other in the process.
Cobra has vowed to destroy Paulina, while she, on the other hand, has told the public about his cheating ways. Anything goes in politics, right?

Their battle has also split the community with some people supporting Cobra, while others are on Paulina’s side. Who will win this round? We have an idea, but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.
You can follow this gripping storyline on Showmax. New episodes of The River air 15 minutes after the DStv broadcast.
