Mqhele is ordered to dump Hlomu
When episode 16 starts, Hlomu is digging for evidence to expose the culprits behind the cash-in-transit (CIT) heist. She visits the police station for clues and the corrupt cop, Ngobe, who works with the Zulu brothers, recognises her.
Terrified that his cover will be blown if Hlomu gets to the bottom of the heists, Ngobe suspects that Hlomu is engaged to Mqhele to expose his crimes. After Ngobe tells Nkosana his misgivings about Hlomu, the eldest Zulu brother orders Mqhele to dump Hlomu. Nkosana fears that Hlomu could jeopardise their business dealings. The Zulu brothers are so close to their dreams of being the most powerful taxi bosses in Gauteng. They won’t let Hlomu take them down – and all their hard work. So, they order Mqhele to dump her! Mqhele is forced to choose between the love of his life and his loyalty towards his family.
But Mqhele can’t decide, or rather, he won’t. So, to stop Hlomu from sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong, Mqhele asks her to quit her job immediately. Not only does Hlomu refuse his demand, but she also tells him that she’s close to cracking the heist case, the same case Mqhele and his brothers are behind. One thing that’s certain is that Hlomu’s probing won’t end well for her and Mqhele.
The younger brothers are concerned about the future
Meanwhile, Mqoqi, Mpande, and Ntsika are worried that their older brothers have no interest in revisiting their family home in Mbuba, which was set alight in the early ‘90s.
Mpande is amazed that Nkosana was quick to buy an extravagant mansion just after their home in Naturena was set on fire but they haven’t even visited the one in Mbuba to fix it. Are the older brothers forgetting their roots? Is history repeating itself? So many questions that don’t have answers.
Nkosana pays for Mqhele’s wedding but at what cost?
Nkosana takes a portion of the money that they made from their previous heist, and he gives it to Mqhele for his wedding expenses.
Overjoyed, Mqhele thank his brothers for their generosity. Nqoba and Qhawe aren’t pleased with Nkosana’s sudden decision. Nqoba doesn’t understand that he and Mandisa didn’t receive this kind of gesture. And now, Hlomu arrives and she’s getting special treatment. “You can’t compare Mandisa with Hlomu,” says Nkosana. The brothers aren’t happy that Nkosana is paying for Mqhele’s wedding and to make matters even worse, Hlomu is so close to cracking the CIT case and that could threaten the Zulu brothers’ freedom.

Truth is revealed before Hlomu walks the aisle
Like any couple going into marriage, Hlomu asks Mqhele if there aren’t any secrets before they exchange vows. He assures her that there’s nothing to worry about, saying: “There aren’t any crazy ex-girlfriends nor baby mamas”.
But just before Hlomu walks down the aisle, her cop friend sends her an email containing CCTV footage from a recent CIT heist. There she sees the Zulu brothers pulling the heist. Mqhele is also there wearing the watch she bought for him. Hlomu loses it. Tears stream and she’s livid. What is she getting herself into? The money, flashy lifestyle, and fancy cars that Mqhele and his brothers have? It all makes sense now, it’s money from their illicit dealings.
Tired of lies, she gives Mqhele his ring back and as she’s about to leave the room, Mqhele confesses: “We do heists.” While explaining, the brothers walk in and only learn that Hlomu knows everything. They all pull out their pistols, and all the brothers point to Hlomu. Qhawe pleads with them, “We don’t kill women”. Nkosana’s son walks in and the brothers put their guns down and they leave Hlomu alone in the room. Mqhele is certain that Hlomu hates him, and she won’t dare get married to him.
But moments later, she arrives in her wedding gown, and the wedding proceeds. What stole the show was Mqhele’s vows that had everyone smiling from ear to ear.
“In my life, I haven’t been given many things. I’ve actually lost many things. Never did I think I’d be standing here, looking at the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You are my everything. I have my faults, you know that too but you love me regardless, more than I deserve.”
