The Wife Season 2 episodes 31-33 recap: Mqoqi saves the day
Mqoqi takes a page out of Sambulo’s book and saves the day while Zandile’s world comes crashing down.
The last episode of The Wife Season 2 ended on a high note, with the Zulu brothers on the brink of death, but saved by Mqoqi, who used the trigger-finger skills he learned from his older brother, Sambulo. Mandisa and Nqoba are missing in action, and Zandile’s problems continue to pile up. Episodes 31-33 of The Wife Season 2 are stacked with so much drama. Let’s unpack them.

Episode 31 – Mqoqi saves the day and restores order
This week picks up from the tumultuous incident the Zulu brothers found themselves in, when the Majolas held them at gunpoint accompanied by a mob of armed hitmen. Just before Gwaza could pull the trigger, shots were fired from afar taking them one by one, and guess who fired the shots? You guessed it right, none other than Sambulo’s protege, Mqoqi. Sambulo gave Mqoqi some lessons, and he knocked them one by one like figs falling off a tree.
Viewers hail him, the next Sambulo reincarnated in the flesh:
Mandisa comes clean
Mandisa realises the depth of her mistake when Nqoba tells him that Sambulo was killed. Remember, Mandisa agreed to work with the Majolas to take out Sambulo in the chairman’s office. She thought she was helping Nqoba, but little did she know that the Majolas were using her to settle the score.
Nqoba insists they tell all the brothers the truth, but knowing what will happen when they find out, she chooses to run away.
Episode 32 – Sambulo is laid to rest
Back in Mbuba Village, the Zulus are preparing to lay their beloved brother to rest. It’s a whirlwind of emotions all around and what’s surprising is that Nqoba and Mandisa are missing in action.
“I doubt he and Mandisa will make it. They’re not okay. And something urgent also came up. I won’t lie to you, if he doesn’t come, he will regret it,” says Zandile.
On the other hand, Nqoba wants to end his life after finding out that the mother of his child is the reason his brother is no more. Now holding the biggest secret about his brother stresses him the most.
The death of Bab’Ngcobo haunts Zandile and her family
It seems like history often has a way of repeating itself. As we saw in the flashback in episode 24, Zandile’s mom tried to kill her but Nkosana rescued her and subsequently killed her mother.
Fast-forward to today, Zandile stabs her father to death. This follows after they discovered that the old man was trying to scam his way into the Zulu family and also threatening to expose how his escaped jail.
Zandile and Nkosana’s son, Sbani, starts to have sleepless nights, dreaming of Bab’ Ngcobo.
“Tell her I’m not going anywhere. I’m not going anywhere before she comes clean. I’m not going anywhere until she tells the truth. Tell her I’ll live on. I’ll live on in you, Sbani,” Bab’ Ngcobo says in a dream.
The Majolas finally gets a taste of their own medicine
The Zulu brothers take the Majolas to an abandoned house and beat them to a pulp. Not only that, but they also tie them to a moving van.
They give them a chance to run for their lives and then hunt them and kill them. If there’s one thing we can agree on, it’s that we loved to hate the Majola brothers since the very first season. Check out some of the mixed reactions from The Wife viewers after the death of the Majola brothers:
Episode 33 – Qhawe visits Naledi again
On a brighter note, Qhawe makes another turn by the hospital to see his love, Naledi, and asks her out on a date. One thing we’ve come to learn about these two is that they are undeniably in love. Naledi agrees to have lunch with Qhawe but on one condition: if they have it at her workplace.
Later on, Qhawe surprises her with a romantic table setting at the hospital. The beautiful doctor is smitten, and just like that, they toast to a beautiful future together.
As you would expect, viewers cannot stop adoring this new couple in the making:
