The Wife Season 3 episode 4-6 recap: A sex scene, and a tragedy
In episode 4 of The Wife Season 3, we see Naledi in the Royal Thabeng, disgruntled that her future hangs on her father’s authority. It’s clear that she has no choice but to marry a person she doesn’t love. All she wants is to marry for love and not for duty.
Unfortunately, her father thinks otherwise and still doesn’t get why his daughter is hung up on this Zulu boy. Kgosi, who is the chief of the Royal Thabeng, believes that Naledi is to become the next chief. But his other daughter, Tshedi, has always assumed that she was next to take up the chieftaincy title, as she is the eldest.
Finding help from an unexpected person
Livid when she finds out about her family’s plans for the throne, Tshedi does the unthinkable. The elder sister decides to rescue Qhawe, as her golden plan is to nudge Naledi further away from the chieftaincy title.
Qhawe is having vivid nightmares about the night of Naledi’s kidnap. When he wakes up to a good samaritan at his mercy, he is left wondering who it could be as the person has covered herself so that he doesn’t recognise her.
The Zulu brother gets a lifeline when Tshedi gives him a phone and tells him to do whatever he can to save Naledi, who’s getting married the next day. He immediately calls Mqhele and sends him a location.
The Zulu matriarchs handle business
Hlomu together with Mandisa and Xoli are on a mission to clean up the dirty work of their Zulu men while they are locked up in jail. Remember the dead body that Mandisa and Hlomu found in the car? The trio is on a mission to get rid of it. As soon as they are done burying the body, Hlomu remembers there’s more work to be done.
Bontle is their next mission. That’s right, Bontle is the one who was behind the Zulu brothers’ exposé and has been working with the cops to finish the work that her late boss, Lux, died trying to accomplish.
Hlomu went to apologise to Bontle after their altercation. She pretends to have made peace with what happened and invites her to the restaurant to celebrate their success. The two meet over drinks, and Bontle gets a call from detective Baloyi to meet at The Informer. When they get there, her laptop is nowhere to be found.
Turns out, the Zulu makotis planned this all along – for Xoli to break in at The Informer to steal Bontle’s laptop while Hlomu keeps her busy. Smart move!
A Xoli and Sambulo sex scene: things get steamy
Back at the Zulu mansion, straight after the Zulu brothers got released from jail, Sambulo walks into his room with a towel wrapped around him and finds Xoli in bed with one leg up, dressed in sexy lingerie.
This sight leaves the Zulu speechless but he mentions that he needs to be cleansed before getting involved in any sexual practice. Xoli continues seducing him until he gives in to temptation. The Wife serves viewers yet another explicit scene, following the most talked-about scene from last season. See what viewers are saying about this scene:
Operation free Qhawe
The Zulu brothers head to Royal Thabeng to rescue one of their brothers, Qhawe. In order to infiltrate the royal palace they decide to rob a food delivery truck and use it to disguise themselves as a catering company delivering food at the wedding. They manage to get Qhawe out of the dungeon but instead of running away, Qhawe insists he’s not leaving without Naledi his love. The Zulu brothers disrupt the royal wedding and head back home.
A tragedy of epic proportions awaits as they touch down in Johannesburg. They find Nqoba’s tavern desolate and in a complete mess. It’s clear something happened but they have no idea what it is. Their joy at Qhawe’s successful rescue turns into turmoil when they find Nqoba dead at the tavern.
