The Wife Season 3 episodes 1-3: Zulu brothers caught slipping
The Wife Season 3 episodes 1-3 are finally available to stream on Showmax and viewers are already served with drama that picks up right where Season 2 left off. Last season, we were left wondering who kidnapped Naledi and whether or not Sambulo was still alive. If you haven’t been keeping up with The Wife universe, there’s a lot of catching up to do. The Wife Season 1-2 is available to binge-watch on Showmax. The third season is based on the book Naledi His Love, are available to stream now on Showmax.
Naledi is kidnapped and Qhawe enters dangerous territory
The new season opens up with a glimpse of a new Mqhele, played by Wiseman Mncube. Hlomu and Mqhele rekindle their love over a romantic dinner and the ice-cream-loving husband buys his wife a restaurant. Yup, Hlomu is now a new restaurant owner. The excitement is short-lived when Qhawe calls to drop news about Naledi getting kidnapped. Qhawe wants his brothers not to go to sleep until Naledi is home. What he is forgetting is that not so long ago when all his brothers went to help Zandile break out of jail, he stayed behind. Now see how the tide has turned against him.
Qhawe enters dangerous terrain and fights Naledi’s kidnappers, but he gets defeated and ends up being held captive in a dungeon in chains. It turns out Naledi’s father hired his people to kidnap his daughter, to take her away from the Zulu brother. What we didn’t know about the Tswana doctor is that she is a princess, a daughter of the chief of the Royal Thabeng whose hand in marriage is already promised to a gentleman named Sefako (played by Stoan Seate). How Qhawe decided to go to a stranger’s house all alone is still shocking. We don’t know how, but what we do know is that he is treading on dangerous territory and only time will tell what the repercussions will be.
Sambulo is back and very much alive
The Wife Season 2 ended with the most devastating moment when Sambulo got murdered by the Majola brothers. We saw the family trying to deal with the aftermath of losing yet another brother. We now find out that Sambulo is in fact alive and is out for vengeance. But how? Didn’t we all watch the taxi go up in flames with him inside? He tells his brothers that he managed to get out of that taxi before it blew up. Then met a lovely girl, Xoli (played by Lungelo Mpangase), who helped nurse him back to health following this near-death experience. Now he’s back in the family fold, very much alive, and moments after that Xoli makes a grand entrance and leaves them shocked when she shows off her gun-toting skills. Let’s just say, Xoli has one of the most memorable entrances you’ll ever see in The Wife.
The Zulu brothers have their backs against the wall
With the Zulu brothers’ crimes now front-page news and the Hawks on their heels, the Zulus’ crooked cop advises Nkosana that his colleagues will be coming to arrest Zandile. He insists that the best thing to do is for Zandile to run away as cops are after her. Nkosana convinces his wife, and together with their kids, they flee the country.
The Hawks arrive at the Zulu mansion to do a thorough search after receiving a tip-off, but they don’t find anything. They end up arresting the Zulu brothers anyway, and to make the situation more aggravating, they ask them to strip naked right in front of their wives. The brothers are then arrested and Hlomu has to handle business while everyone is missing in action. She has embraced the role of a Zulu wife and knows exactly how things operate in the family. Her first job is to get rid of a body she found in Sambulo’s car.
Back at the Royal Thabeng, Qhawe is still locked up and Naledi’s father has arranged for Sefako to take his daughter’s hand in marriage. But Naledi only wants her Zulu man, Qhawe. Will she give in to her father’s orders or will she find ways to fight for her love?
Watch the Trailer of The Wife Season 3 Episodes 1-3
In what seems to be the most explosive season yet, the Zulu family goes through a whirlwind of emotions, as we see the Zulu brothers’ crimes laid bare for the whole world to see.
The trailer hints at an intense and thrilling ride as we get to find out who kidnapped Naledi. We also get a glimpse of the new Mqhele, played by Wiseman Mncube, the only confirmed change this season. A scene in which Qhawe is locked up in the dungeon in chains suggests a dramatic spectacle that’s enough to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
