When you find love in a hopeless place, that’s what we call a Love Heist!
In Love Heist, A beautiful young woman, Tsholo, is pressured into the business of seducing and scamming men out of their money by her older sister, Karabo. Plans to make a living out of this are disrupted when Tsholo unexpectedly falls in love with one of their victims. Her feelings for this mysterious man lead her to a crossroads where she must choose what is most important to her.
The film features a well-rounded cast of some of the most popular actors in South Africa.
Who’s in the cast of Love Heist?
Love Heist features a star-studded cast such as Sthandile Nkosi (Vula Vala) and Katlego Setlhare (Housekeepers, Zabalaza, Isibaya).
The two actresses star as siblings who try to navigate their way in the grimy streets of Joburg but – like many of us – love finds them in unexpected ways.
The cast also includes celebrated actor Cornet Mamabolo (Zabalaza) playing the character of Kabelo, and veteran actress Shoki Mmola playing the role of Kabelo’s mom. Radio host Nia Brown (Ayeye) makes an appearance as the sister’s diva-ish friend who also participates in the hustle of swindling men.
Joburg is not for the faint-hearted
The story is set in Hillbrow and gives a glimpse of how unkind the streets of Joburg can be. It’s beautiful, raw and authentic, and represents the lives and struggles of everyday women who are just trying to scrape together a living. However, their less-than-honest hustle soon catches up with them in the most unexpected way.
Following in big sis’ footsteps
When their parents pass on, Tsholo attempts to further her studies in varsity. But, lack of funds leaves her vulnerable and she is easily swayed by Karabo to join her in a life of crime that involves swindling rich men out of their money.
Her plans to make a living out of this lifestyle are disrupted when she unexpectedly falls in love with one of her victims – Kabelo. Tsholo now has to decide whether to ditch her illegal hustle and follow her heart or betray the love of her life and continue to scam people.
Love might have caught Tsholo unexpectedly, but will she continue to follow her heart or will she choose her life of crime?
