3 beautiful documentaries to bring you closer to nature
Your next bush holiday break might still be months away (it’s just under 12 weeks til Easter, whoo hoo), but that doesn’t mean you can’t escape into the wonder of nature from the comfort of your couch or office chair (don’t worry, we won’t tell). Showmax has recently added three gorgeous nature documentaries to the line-up, so get ready to be transported to some of the most awe-inspiring locations in the world.
1. Planet Earth, Season 1
Enter the amazing natural world in this award-winning series of nature documentaries. From unbelievable footage to never-seen-before animals, this is the one nature series you can’t miss. Explore jungles, caves and deserts, the deep ocean, shallow seas and mountains in the first-ever nature series to be filmed in HD, which took five years to make and was, at the time, the most expensive nature series to ever be commissioned by the BBC. 2. African Safari 3D
See startlingly close encounters with lions, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, elephants and more in this amazing nature movie that highlights the power and wonder of Africa. This is the real deal – there are no fences, no game rangers, no luxury suites, no massages at the spa. The Lion Whisperer, Kevin Richardson, takes you on the trek of a lifetime through the vastly different landscapes of the continent, from the dunes of Namibia to the Ngorongoro Crater and Vic Falls. 3. Enchanted Kingdom 3D
Nature is the crowning glory of our planet, but it has never been shown in more detail and with more beauty than in this incredible nature documentary. Get ready to experience the natural wonder of our continent in startling detail, from the rainforests to the desert, from coral reefs to the savannah. (And, if you’re in Cape Town, you’ll especially relish the opening sequence of drenching rain pouring down onto a city). Watch now »
