4 reasons we absolutely hate Archie on Enakhe
Most TV shows have a character who everyone wishes death on because of how vile they are. So let’s talk about Archie on Africa Magic’s newest telenovela, Enakhe, now streaming on Showmax.
Who is Archie?
Archie is a serial cheat, wicked misogynist, and bully, engaged to the beautiful, responsible Enakhe. He is the only son of a powerful man, Chief Umweni, who sits at an influential table that controls Benin’s underworld and, to an extent, the city’s main activities. Chief Umweni is a reasonable businessman who carries himself with grace and honour. He has set Archie on a path of success – politics – and is pulling strings to ensure his son secures an upcoming primary election. But Archie has other plans: he wants to sleep with every woman in Benin, knowing this could damage his relationship with Enakhe, which happens to be the key to his political kingdom. But does Archie care?
So you see, he’s quite the character – a spoilt brat, in fact. Here are four reasons we can’t stand Archie.
He’s a ridiculous cheat
A few seconds into meeting Archie, and you can’t help but wonder what his problem is. He is engaged to Enakhe but is sleeping with her friend, Ivie. But two can’t be enough for a man of Archie’s status, so he adds Fantasia to the list, a sexy fashion designer. The worse part? He sends Enakhe to shop at Fantasia’s boutique!
He is a cheap bully
Archie never stands up to his peers: he prefers to pick on people who are not as wealthy or politically powerful. Today, it is Ivie, who he treats poorly because, unlike Enakhe, she’s not from an influential family. Tomorrow, it is an innocent driver who has done nothing wrong but comes into contact with Archie in a foul mood.
When someone stands up to him, he crumbles, and this is what happens with Jonas, Enakhe’s love interest. Jonas is the newest member of the committee of friends, but he doesn’t show he sits on such a powerful table. He carries himself humbly, and Archie always tries to bully him, forcing him to fight back.
He’s abusive
It should not be a surprise that a bully and cheat like Archie is abusive. He is an expert at gaslighting and dishonesty. Enakhe always falls for his lies, so he continually manipulates her until she’s had enough. He hits Ivie frequently and paid men to beat her until she loses a pregnancy. Fantasia is content with sharing him with other women, so she sees less of his brutal side.
He’s irresponsible
This side of Archie is quite unfathomable. With his father’s influence, he can be one of Benin’s top young politicians, but he sabotages every effort being made to secure him a political career. It is almost like he can’t help himself. But will he lose everything, or will he win at the end of the day?
