5 times Laura Ikeji-Kanu proved she’s the drama on The Real Housewives of Lagos
It’s been over three weeks since the ladies of The Real Housewives of Lagos gave us a front-row seat to their oh-so-fabulous lives and we can’t keep calm.
In the first episode of the show, Laura Ikeji-Kanu famously asked, “am I the drama?” and after three weeks of giving it hot hot, we can confidently affirm that Laura is, in fact, the drama.
As we count down to another episode of The Real Housewives of Lagos, let’s take a moment to appreciate all the times Laura Ikeji-Kanu delivered on the drama.
1. The intro video
Laura set the stage for things in her intro diary session when she asked “Am I the drama”? She admitted to not forgiving easily, saying “if you mess up, I will most likely not forgive you ever and ever again”. She went on to describe herself as not being very nice except “you’re nice to me”.
It was at this moment we knew that we were about to see a side to Laura you won’t find on Instagram.
2. Laura’s dinner with her husband
Laura totally entertained us during her anniversary dinner with her husband. Watching their easy banter gave us “God when” vibes.
But the mum of two had us really cracking up when she paused to check her Instagram notifications during dinner.
“Hold on, let me check Instagram for one minute, let me see how many comments I have.”
Talk about a focused queen.
3. The Chioma friend situation
Laura gave us one of the most talked-about moments on the show after Toyin suggested that Laura and Chioma be friends. Laura responded by saying they were already friends, adding “I’ve known Chioma for years”. Chioma, however, gave Laura major ela ojukon when she replied that “Laura has been a Good Hair client for like six, seven years”.
Naturally, this did not sit well with Laura, who admitted during her diary session that she wanted Chioma to say they were friends, and not refer to her as a “customer”.
And so began the cold war between Laura and Chioma.
4. When she turned down Iyabo’s invite to the beach
Another moment that triggered major gbas gbos on the show was Laura turning down Iyabo’s invitation to the beach.
Iyabo had invited all the ladies to a beach house, but Laura turned down the invitation, saying that she has a huge phobia of getting on boats. Just when we thought that was it, Laura drops the truth bomb: “I don’t know Iyabo that well, why would I go to the beach with her?”
Okuurr, shade queen, we see you!
Laura’s absence from the beach party would go on to trigger one of the biggest moments of the show so far.
5. Laura vs Carolyna
Unarguably the most dramatic moment on the show so far happened when our fierce queen hinted at slapping Carolyna, because what is a Real Housewives show without some hand-throwing?
From the jump, Laura had made it clear that she was not crazy about Carolyna. She expressed surprise to see her at Toyin’s event, saying that to her knowledge, Toyin and Carolyna had had a fight. After the event, when Toyin confronted Laura about her standoffish attitude, she explained that she “wasn’t feeling the crowd” and hinted that she would not have come if she knew Carolyna and Chioma had been invited.
However, things took a dramatic turn after Iyabo confronted Laura over her absence at the beach party and the pair went on to discuss the game of “The Land of No Return” that the other ladies played in Laura’s absense.
Laura shared with Iyabo that she heard Carolyna “had a lot of nonsense to say about me” and made it clear that she wasn’t happy with Carolyna. “I just feel like if I had come for the reunion I would have given her a dirty slap”.
Word of this infamous slap eventually got back to Carolyna, which led to some major gbas gbos between the ladies.
Will Laura Ikeji-Kanu continue to be the drama, or is she set to pass the baton to another fierce queen? All episodes of The Real Housewives of Lagos, including the two-part reunion, are now streaming.
