Deep Water S1

Four-episode miniseries Deep Water is intense. Be warned: what you’re about to witness in the 2019 thriller drama is real.

Six-episode Deep Water (not to be confused with the Australian miniseries of the same name) is the UK’s answer to Big Little Lies – or a half-decent match, at least. Three women – Lisa (Anna Friel), Kate (Rosalind Eleazar) and Roz (Sinead Keenan) have three things in common: their kids attend the same school, they face challenges in life and they’re sharing a secret.

The 2019 miniseries is based on the Windermere novels by Paula Daly and has been adapted by Mrs Wilson screenwriter Anna Symon, so you know that surprises, twists and turns wait around every corner.

Don’t be fooled by the picturesque views across the lake – the secrets of this little town are more shocking than you’d expect. And the trio at the centre are doing everything possible to stay alive and ahead of the game.

Each woman has something different about them that the other wishes they had, like a mansion and a wealthy, loving husband, but Deep Water proves that all that glitters isn’t gold.

“The team have cleverly woven together two brilliant novels to create a wonderful modern and layered series. It’s about three very different women on their own incredible and often shocking journeys, whose lives connect at the school gates. It’s funny, sexy, truthful and often outrageous, and should have the audience asking what they would do to hold their own family together,” says ITV head of drama Polly Hill.
