Detroit (2017)
Good and evil are not black and white in this story of the 1967 Detroit Riots. What starts as a raid on an unlicensed club descends into chaos as rioters and snipers clash with police and national guardsmen. In one hotel, a disparate group of partiers and musicians try to survive the night when a racist cop and a security guard drunk on power accuse them of being involved in a crime they didn’t commit.
John Boyega (Star Wars) and Will Poulter, both British actors, star and Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) directs.
Rotten Tomatoes gave Detroit 82% and said: “Detroit delivers a gut-wrenching – and essential – dramatization of a tragic chapter from America’s past that draws distressing parallels to the present.”
