eHostela S2: Mndeni and Celemba’s showdown ends in a bloodbath
If anyone had told us that the last episode of eHostela would end in tears, we would have at least come prepared. What started out as a plan by Mndeni to save his beloved Sthandwa’s life took a turn for the worse after he came face to face with his notorious uncle Celemba.
While Mndeni was devising a plan to rescue the love of his life, Celemba was working on killing her. She was brought to him and he told her that death would be used to punish her for everything she and her mother did to him: “Your punishment for coming to Delankani Hostel and misbehaving and doing all this rubbish as your mother did.”
Mndeni begs Celemba to take his life
Sthandwa begged Celemba to spare her life.
“Your second crime is that you’re Ma’Skhakhane’s daughter… Wherever she is, I hope she dies again and again and becomes food for maggots.” He also told Sthandwa that her other crime was stealing Mndeni’s heart with her love. “And you came together to overthrow me. I lost my cousin because of you and your mother,” he said.
Just as he was about to slit her throat, Mndeni showed up to save her.
“Take me, please. This girl is innocent. She doesn’t know anything,” Mndeni pleaded. He added that Celemba lost his honour when he started killing women: “I hate the fact that I have your blood running through my veins.”
Is this the end of an era?
This made Celemba angrier and he vowed to kill Sthandwa so that she could be reunited with her ancestors. While the uncle and nephew were going back and forth about who should die, Sthandwa managed to get her hands on a machete and cut right through Celemba’s stomach. Immediately after that, one of his men reacted by pointing a gun at Sthandwa, but Mndeni jumped in front of her and he got shot.
Although he was unresponsive when Sthandwa and Vovo were trying to wake him up, it’s not clear whether he died or not.
While we wait for updates on whether there will be a third season, you can relive all the thrilling moments from Season 2 on Showmax. Season 1 of eHostela is also available to binge-watch on Showamx.
