LaConco’s healthier lifestyle: The Real Housewives of Durban
It is no surprise that the straight-talking, no nonsense taking Nonkanyiso Conco – affectionately known as LaConco, has returned for the second edition of The Real Housewives of Durban.
Watch: LaConco The Real Housewives of Durban Best Moments!
Her debut on the show in episode 5 of Season 1 was anticipated with bated breath. Although many had read about her in the media and formed opinions about her, LaConco changed the narrative and succeeded in making herself the most likeable and popular cast member.
Her outfits, popular Zulu phrases and her clap backs stand out as one of the most memorable moments of the first season. And now with the launch of Season 2, we cannot wait for what LaConco has to offer.
New season, new commitment to health
What we’ve also found to be quite commendable about LaConco is her recent journey to a healthier lifestyle.
LaConco was quite honest in letting us know that this road was nothing close to being smooth. She’s experienced many challenges when it comes to living a healthier lifestyle and like many of us, she too has fallen off the healthy wagon more than once. But she ensures that she always hops back on the wagon every time.
After the end of Season 1 of The Real Housewives of Durban, LaConco’s followers witnessed a visible change in LaConco’s physique. Although the mother of one has always been adamant about being proud of her body, in the past year, she has taken further steps in ensuring that she lives a healthier lifestyle through a change of diet and constant exercise.
Her videos and images on social media of her health journey have inspired many. In our further conversation, LaConco shares why she decided to embark on such a journey and how it’s been going thus far.
Finding the perfect balance
“Embarking on this health journey is first for my son – before I became a mother I would eat anything I liked, then I became pregnant and indulged in more heavy types of food. But as I saw my son grow, I told myself that I needed to get back in shape for myself and for him.
“It hasn’t been an easy journey, but after he turned two I told myself that it was time to get back to the gym. However, I’m also a career woman – I would be consistent with the gym but at some point, work took over and the gym fell off on the waste side.
But I’ve managed to find a balance – I still enjoy my favourite foods but I also ensure that I balance it out with enough exercise and nutritional food. So for the past year or so I’ve tried to remain consistent with my healthier lifestyle. People on social media keep asking me what my secret is, but people need to understand that the best way to lose weight is through exercise and a balanced diet.”
Next up: a nip and tuck
What we’ve always appreciated about LaConco is her honesty and in this discussion about her health, she has been an open book. She even revealed that she’s planning on undergoing liposuction.
“I’ll be going for liposuction in the near future,” she confirmed. “Although I’ve seen a positive result in my physique, from my arms to my thighs, my stomach is just not going anywhere – ever since my pregnancy my stomach has just been so stubborn.
“It’s also safer to undergo liposuction when you’ve lost weight and you’re constantly working out. So I’m super excited about this journey I’ve embarked on. I’d also like to add that this journey is not just about losing weight but about remaining healthy, being consistent with my healthy lifestyle and diet.”
