Love Suits? Add these razor-sharp series to your TV bucket list
With the final season of Suits now over, you might have a legal firm-sized hole in your viewing schedule. These Showmax gems are just what the judge ordered – but don’t forget that S1-8 are still on Showmax to binge-watch!
1. Billions
Billions is the obvious choice for the Suits addict. It takes place in Wall Street’s hedge fund industry, where billionaire Bobby Axelrod and US Attorney Chuck Rhoades are involved in a cat-and-mouse game where nothing is out of bounds. Watch now »
2. HBO’s Succession
Beautifully tailored clothes. Whip-smart dialogue. Back-stabbing and deal-breaking. Never before has so much drama happened within the walls of one magnificently appointed penthouse after another. Billionaire Logan Roy and his family of power-players deliver all the legal and corporate drama you can handle. Watch now »
3. HBO’s Ballers
Fact: the only guy who looks better than Harvey Specter in a suit is Dwayne ‘The Rock’’ Johnson. Dwayne plays retired football player Spencer Strasmore, who is establishing his own financial management company for athletes. Watch now »
4. Power
The series is the brainchild of Courtney Kemp Agboh, whose name you may recognise from The Good Wife, also on this list. And better yet, 50 Cent is part of the cast – as well as the executive producer. Power is about James “Ghost” St Patrick, who has a Fortune 500 business, a gorgeous wife, a hot nightclub, and not-that-small drug empire on the side. It’s stylish, and there are five seasons of Power to get lost in. Watch now »
5. The Oath
Corrupt police gangs and secret societies, and the officers and criminals who belong to join them. It may not be Harvey’s usual clientele but The Oath S1-2 on Showmax has the same message for the bad guys: no one is above the law. Watch now »
6. The Wire
Even if guns, thugs and drugs aren’t usually your kind of series, HBO’s The Wire (2002-2008) is unmissable. HBO’s award-winning crime drama is rated as #6 on IMDB’s Top TV list and the cast includes Idris Elba as Stringer Bell, one of his most well-known roles. Quality viewing! Watch now »
7. Luther
Speaking of Idris Elba, if you are looking for a cerebral, gritty series, Luther should be high up on your watchlist. DCI Luther is a detective who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. His toe-to-toe dances with murder-slash-psychopath Alice is some of the most tense TV you’ll ever watch. Watch now »
8. The Good Wife
The Good Wife follows Alicia Florrick, a dutiful wife and mother who must carve out her career (again) as a defence attorney, returning to work for the first time after 13 years as a stay-at-home mom. Watch now »
9. The Good Fight
Have you missed intense personal drama, courtroom theatrics and brilliant social commentary? Look no further, The Good Fight is here to satisfy those cravings. A spin-off of The Good Wife that’s brilliant watching in its own right (kind of like how character Jessica Pearson has her own spin-off from Suits). Watch now »
10. Bosch
Based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels, cop drama Bosch is a solid, addictive series for Suits fans to add to their binge-watch list. Watch now »
