Meet Silas from Crime and Justice
Lead Detective, Nairobi Metropol Police
Silas has been a Detective in Nairobi for over 15 years. He knows how the system works, has made several high profile arrests, and is regarded favorably by his peers. Though some would say Silas is too “by the book”, in reality he is aware of the delicate power structure in Kenyan society and does his best to do “all that can be done” — which sometimes means looking the other way.
Watch: Crime and Justice Season 2 from 21 February 2022.
Silas is married with several children, and can be stubborn in his own way, much like Makena. He has an eye for beautiful women, and tries to reconcile his wandering eye with his fierce devotion for his family.
Although Silas knows that his function as Detective is to keep the status quo, he faces a crisis of conscience when the reality of life in Nairobi causes him to question his role in the department. On a more personal level, Silas is head over heels in love with the Prosecutor’s assistant, but she refuses his attempts to make her his mistress unless he leaves his wife.
About Alfred Munyua

After completing high school, Munyua started Galaxie Players, a travelling theatre group that went around the country performing high school and college literature setbooks, from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice to Redemption by David Mulwa, among others.
Two years later in 2006, he delved straight into professional theatre with Phoenix Players and HeartStrings Theatres while taking his journalism and media studies degree. A couple of plays later, Makutano Junction, one of Kenya’s longest-running soap operas, ushered him into the TV scene in 2008.
His journey in film started in 2010 in the biographical film The First Grader based on the life of Kimani Maruge, the world’s oldest pupil, which also starred British actor Naomie Harris (Skyfall, Moonlight). Munyua has since featured in TV shows like Nganya, the gritty Kenyan drama about the matatu industry, Kalasha-nominated comedy series Baba Yao, Kalasha-winning short film Poacher, Sense8 and numerous Africa Magic Original Films (AMOF).
Alfred’s other works: Mother-in-Law (2006), Sunrise (2014), Wrath (2015).
