Mina Nawe House Season 2 Episodes 5-6 recap: Pull that trigger
New episodes of Mina Nawe House Season 2 are now streaming on Showmax from Moja Love, with two episodes dropping every Monday. Catch up on all the drama that the couples admitted to when they walked into Mina Nawe House Season 2 in our recap of Episodes 1 and 2. And refresh yourself on what happened in Episodes 3 and 4.
Roasted!
Mina Nawe House called in the experts in Episode 5. Behind the scenes, comedians Celeste Ntuli and PelePele Mchunu caught up on all those surveillance tapes. And then they went in hard!
Celeste suggested that Imraan was being two-faced and picked up immediately that he was getting angry when she critiqued him. But she didn’t back off. Instead, she warned him to watch his blood pressure when she roasted him. Then she doubled down and lectured him like a grandmother on Sunday!
Sakhile and Sthembile were crying laughing from the moment that PelePele asked Sakhile why he’d brought his mother to Mina Nawe House, asked whether he brought Sthembile to parent-teacher night at school too . . . then compared their relationship to getting a head start on speaking to the ancestors!
Triggered!
Celeste and PelePele’s words had everyone rolling. But in the final 10 minutes of episode 6, Basani and Siyabonga played recordings in which each person revealed the words that their partner uses against them, then confronted the partners to dig into where those words came from …
- Salima: Abel tells her he regrets marrying her.
- Imraan: Salima calls him an idiot.
- Sakhile: Sthembile calls him a “tortoise”, implying that he is stupid.
- Sthembile: Sakhile accuses her of being a prostitute in front of her kids.
- Koketso: Abel tells her “I won’t beg you” when he’s avoiding compromise.
- Abel: Koketso tells him “don’t be crazy”, which he sees as her being controlling.
- Makhegu: Ayanda calls her useless.
- Ayanda: Makhegu calls her selfish and useless.
- Senzo: Lungile calls him a scumbag.
- Lungile: Senzo tells her to go to another man.
The session, which lasted from daylight well into the night, was so tough that we saw even the couples who normally sit apart clinging to each other. And when they got up to leave, they had to drag themselves out of those chairs!
Sthembile & Sakhile: Prostitute
Out of this season, Sthembile’s revelations were especially heart-breaking as she spoke more about her trauma from a past relationship in which she stabbed an abusive boyfriend with a knife. Sthembile revealed that she’s terrified of that happening with Sakhile, even when he beats her. And Sakhile revealed that Sthembile has lied to his face, called him stupid, and tried to make him think he was seeing things, making things up or misunderstanding when he caught her kissing other men or sitting in cars with them. We’ve seen this couple be incredibly sweet with one another, but Mina Nawe House is exposing a lack of self-esteem that’s driving them into desperation for love, risky sexual behaviour and even cruelty. And that’s a tall order for a TV show to fix.
