Oh, snap! Faith Nketsi keeps it 100 in Have Faith Season 3

Have you snapped yourself at a funeral or while giving birth thanks to the BeReal app? It’s a whole thing. But imagine if you had to BeReal for months. That’s the energy that ex-pro twerker and Instagram baddie Faith Nketsi and her gang, including magnificently clawed PA Andzelo Tivani and gal pal and fellow influencer Kim Kholiwe, bring us in reality series Have Faith Season 3.

Have Faith is a raw, chaotic, exhausting and sometimes funny look into navigating the world of online fame. Business negotiations are so vague that they might as well end with everyone saying “whatever”. And Faith is doing the most – like slogging up a sand dune in a black velvet ball-gown or sitting alone in the VIP area of a club where nothing is happening – on a hint of a sniff of a promise of future possibilities. Like a shark scenting a drop of blood in the ocean, she just keeps biting, just keeps biting.

Have Faith is a mirror of what women are up against in the industry. While Instagram fame is all about the illusion of getting personal, through watching Faith and her cousin, Refiloe Nketsi Rapolai, and friends like Kim Kholiwe we see the utter panic behind the scenes that pregnancy and motherhood can cause. They jokingly call it “rebranding” but no mistake, you may as well be cancelled for two years. Can you ever be a whole woman online?

However, it’s not all seriously social, though. With Have Faith Season 4 on the horizon, we’ve put together a refresher on our favourite moments and things, both silly and stirring.

Must-watch moments of Have Faith Season 3

Celebrities are made differently

Faith Nketsi loves her food on Have Faith

We challenge you, brave viewers, to count the number of times this season you see Kim chowing down while surrounded by white things. The moment that you see Faith with her hands in a fast food box while wearing an all-white outfit and sitting on a white throw in episode 2, you’ll know that celebrities are made differently from us. And, chommie, that’s not an isolated incident. This is a woman who has never in her life absentmindedly wiped her greasy hands on her pants.

The mother of all problems

Weird to be calling out another Faith eating scene, but here we are! Andzelo calls out Refilwe claiming that every time she gets to an event it’s like she’s organising a stokvel because first business must be discussed! In the scene Andzelo and Refiloe fight over the difference between business and friendship with Faith, and why Refiloe (an ex pro-twerker and mom to an infant son) doesn’t get invited to fun events anymore, while Faith sits quietly in between them, eating.

It’s like watching two dogs fight over a bone while the third eats their food as fast as it can. In the episode, Faith pops her head up and declares, “If this is what a baby is going to do to me, I don’t want it. You guys are not victims, you’re just mothers.”

And, oh boy, is that the theme for the season … deliberately so, because there’s a pregnancy scare waiting for Faith in episode 9. All the negative attitudes we see throughout the show about motherhood (and you’ll be hard-pressed to find an episode without them; it’s vicious) are building to that.

Cupid’s clues

Another cheeky thing to enjoy this season is when Faith and Andzelo poke their noses into their respective moms’ romantic lives. You think you’re grown until a scene like this comes up and your good Christian ears make you want to go hide under the furniture.

Sharp-eyed Andzelo suggests that his mommy has the hots for her personal trainer and household handyman. The evidence? She makes food for a lot of people but his plate comes on a tray! Andzelo, who are you, that you are so wise in the ways of mothers? When we tell you we laughed…

Raw Faith

Faith goes with her brother Kabelo and his NGO to a school in Sasolburg where he’s giving his anti drug abuse testimony to the kids, after we’ve just seen Kim at her brother’s grave. It’s shattering. It’s one of the best timed and edited scenes from the series and is wholly believable.

By the age of 14, Kabelo was on cocaine thanks to older friends, and Kim reveals that her late brother was using hard drugs by the age of nine. Faith’s mom is crying her eyes out as Kim reveals that her own mom is still paying back the people that her brother stole from. But then it’s a really sweet and light moment to see her and Kim supporting Sabelo and dancing with the school kids.

Sometimes it’s the little things that are shocking like…

We find out that Faith’s dad is “that uncle” in her family. And apparently it’s making Christmas planning awkward because when he gets drunk, it’s better that everyone then goes home. Yikes!

Andzelo is meeting with a therapist at his apartment. But is this a real therapist or an actress? Watch as she keeps asking “and how does that make you feel?” as if that was the only thing she learned at therapist school and she left after that lesson.

Four fave out-of-context quotes

  • “Gospel is not that bad to go with my brand because I’m a grown, sexy mom-woman that is trying to grow her brand.” – Kim
  • “If I have to see him on his Matric Dance, so be it. I am not driving an hour to see a child.” – Andzelo
  • “There’s no will, I guess, just bury me with my things, please.” – Andzelo
  • “Who knew that a camel can hurt my camel-toe!” – Faith

There are also camel rides, road trips, baby photoshoots and so much more excitement to come throughout the season. And the big questions for Season 4 are:

  • Is Faith pregnant?
  • Is her boyfriend setting up lobola with her dad (as per that vague phone call in episode 10)?
  • Is Kim going to get back with the ex and baby daddy who abandoned her now that he’s divorced? (grrrr)
  • Is Andzelo going to need to find a new client to manage if Kim is a mommy, and will he ever find Mr Right so he can stop “hot spotting” and get a “fibre connection”?
