Radio Raps S1-3
In the third season of Die Radio Raps Show, Rikus de Beer is breathing new life into his over-the-top comedy character Jonathan From The East Rand. You name it, he’s taking the mickey in season 3 – SA celebs, dorps from here to Buffelspoort and everywhere in-between, bad habits and even lockdown, although without the brandewyn-fuelled Dutch courage.
What’s on the way for the third instalment? Actors including Simoné Pretorius (Jony in Hotel) and Ansu Visser (Getroud Met Rugby’s Lulu), musicians Ruiter Piet (2020’s Die Tuindwergies) and Jo Black (2019 rock song Bitter), who Jonathan does a duet with. They’ll be swapping stories about everything from online dating, to braaiing chicken wings.
Like the previous two seasons, Jonathan’s desert-dry humour and on-point delivery is what makes the show funnier. He can turn the most basic situation into an awkward moment, like in episode 1 (on 17 July on VIA at 20:00) when the host gets schooled by a laaitie about what it means when a dog doesn’t bark.
If you’re looking for a lekker kuier on a Friday night because, well, you can’t go out, you can’t braai with your chinas or family, and you’ve run out of beer, tune in.
